Oswaldo has also represented Mexico in international competition. He played for their Under-20 team and then played for the senior team from 1996 to 2011 where he had 99 appearances. With Mexico Sanchez has won a USA Cup in 1996 and CONCACAF Gold Cups in 1996 and 2003. He holds the record for the soccer player with the most appearances in Primera Division de Mexico at over 700. He was named the Primera Division de Mexico Best Goalkeeper seven times and the Best Player twice. He was also named Best Goalkeeper at the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2003, FIFA Confederations Cup 2005, and CONCACAF Champions League 2012-13.
