As a manager he has coached Amora, Felgueiras, Uniao Madeira, Estrela da Amadora, Vitoria Setubal, Vitoria Guimaraes, Moreirense, Uniao Leiria, Belenenses, Braga, Benfica, and Sporting CP. He has been named Primeira Liga Best Coach three times and Coach of the Year in 2014. He set a club record managing Benfica by winning 10 major titles.
