In 2003 he wrote and directed the film The Memory of a Killer. He directed the film Loft in 2008 and the movie The Loft in 2014. He also wrote the screenplay for the film Dossier K. and episodes of the TV series De slimste mens ter wereld in 2009. Van Looy won an Audience Award in 2003 and a Critics Award in 2004. He also won two Joseph Plateau Awards for Best Belgian Director and Best Belgian Screenplay in 2004.
